AUDIO: Russell T Davies On David Tennant "He's Steeped In Wisdom"

Russell T Davies, the creative force behind BBC One's new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, paid a visit to Salford's MediaCity yesterday to chat about the play with Kirsy Wark for BBC Radio 4's Front Row. Russell confirmed that he turned to an obvious advisor while working on the project: Tenth Doctor and Royal Shakespeare Company actor David Tennant.

"We did talk a lot about it together actually because he's steeped in wisdom on all these things," he said.

Sadly David wasn't available to take a role in the production, although Russell would have loved to have included him.

"I would have cast him as anything, but he's busy. He's got this career going on - I don't know who would employ him, basically," he joked. "But sadly he wasn't free to become a faery in the forest. We managed without him."

A Midsummer Night's Dream will air on BBC One on Monday 30th May at 8.30pm
