A Look At What's Ahead In 2016 For David Tennant



As the new year starts we take a look at what's to come for David Tennant and his fans in the coming months...


Theatre

David will be treading the boards once again in 2016 as he reprises his award winning role of Richard II as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's King And Country event in London and New York.

He will play in rep at the Barbican in London on the following dates:
7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 19th, 22nd January
He will also be taking part in a talk about the play on 16th January.

The play will then transfer to the BAM Harvey Theatre in New York and will play on the following dates:
24th March, 1st, 5th, 8th, 12th, 14th, 17th, 19th, 26th, 29th April.

David will be hosting a live celebration of Shakespeare from the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon to be broadcast on BBC Two on 23rd April. A ticket ballot to attend the event will open in early 2016.

The film version of David's Hamlet will be shown as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's Shakespeare On Screen season at the Barbican on 31st January.

Costumes worn by David will be on display at a new Royal Shakespeare Company exhibition that will be open from June in Stratford-upon-Avon.


TV

The third series of the ITV drama Broadchurch will be going in to production in the summer of 2016. It's likely to hit screens in the UK in the early part of 2017. David Tennant and Olivia Colman are the only confirmed members of cast so far. 


Film

David is expected to begin work on the R.D Laing biopic, Mad To Be Normal, in early 2016. He will be taking on the title role and will joined by a stellar cast including Elisabeth Moss and Michael Gambon.

David has voiced the character Mason Savoy in the animated feature film Chew which is penciled in for a release later this year.

David is also linked to the Scottish feature film, I Feel Fine, which was delayed in its filming at the end of last year and to the animated comedy Reds And Grays which has also suffered from delays and is now expected in 2017.


Audio

One of the most eagerly awaited projects for David in 2016 will be the release of a new series of Doctor Who audio adventures from Big Finish. David has teamed up with his former companion Catherine Tate to reprise their ever popular roles as the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble.
The books will be released in May 2016.

David also lends his vocal talents to the final book in Cressida Cowell's Hiccup 'How To Train Your Dragon' series. How To Fight A Dragon's Fury will be released on 29th March.


TV Appearances

David will be making a couple of appearances on popular TV shows this month when he pops up on both Room 101 and Jame & Jimmy's Friday Night Feasts.
Room 101 will air on Thursday 14th January at 8.30pm on BBC One 
Jamie and Jimmy's Friday Night Feasts will air on Friday 15th January at 8pm on Channel 4.



Public Appearances

David will be attending more fan conventions in the USA this year. He is already announced for both Wizard World St Louis and Madison events in April.
