DAVID TENNANT REVIEW OF 2015: June - Awards Nods & New Voice Roles

The year reaches its halfway point this month as our review of David Tennant’s 2015 projects and news takes a look at June. David took on some new voice roles, while Jessica Jones lost her A.K.A.


David made his debut as the Doctor on TV in India as series 2 of Doctor Who launched on FX. Over in the USA, Disney launched David’s episodes of Doctor Who on Disney XD

The second series of Broadchurch reached Denmark while Gracepoint arrived in Germany and Austria.

Marvel’s Jessica Jones, up till then known as A.K.A. Jessica Jones, dropped the ‘A.K.A.’, although the acronym would later be retained by the individual episode titles. With production winding up, Marvel started gearing up towards the series launch, and the show gained a Facebook page

A new season in the Dreamworks Dragons franchise, Race ToThe Edge, launched exclusively on Netflix in which David returned to the role of Spitelout.


David recorded the vocal role of Mason Savoy in the upcoming animated feature Chew. The film, an adaptation of the comics about a detective who can solve crimes from psychic clues in whatever he eats, also stars Stephen Yeun and Felicia Day and is scheduled for a 2016 release.

What We Did On Our Holiday was released in cinemas in India and premiered in Canada at the Oakville Festivals of Film & Art.


Samsung released their new RE:Shakespeare app in which David was the host. The app aims to inspire 11-18 year olds to study Shakespeare.


David made the shortlist for Best Actor in the 2015 TV Choice Awards for his performance in Broadchurch. Broadchurch and W1A were also nominated for awards.

David received two longlist nominations in the primetime Emmys for his performances in Broadchurch and Gracepoint; unfortunately he did not make the shortlists.


David was one of many stars, creatives and members of the public who spoke out in support of the BBC, currently under threat of cuts to funding by the Government
