Marvel's Jessica Jones - Three New Cast Members Announced

Three new names have been added to the cast list of Marvel's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, joining David Tennant, Krysten Ritter and Carrie-Anne Moss in the thirteen part series. The adaptation of the Marvel comic book series Alias is a joint production between Marvel Television and ABC Studios and will premiere exclusively on Netflix later this year.

Eka Darville, the Australian star of Empire and Power Rangers R.P.M will play Jessica's neighbour Malcolm, and his journey will intertwine with hers in a surprising way. Executive Producer and Showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, "Eka brings such depth, humour and nuanced performance to the characters he plays, which makes him the perfect person to portray Malcolm. I’m looking forward to seeing what he will bring to this role."

Fellow Australian Wil Traval (Red Widow, Once Upon A Time) has signed on as an as yet unnamed NYPD cop who takes the  concept of 'protect and serve' very seriously. "Wil Traval is a very emotionally courageous actor, able be profoundly vulnerable, or venal, or funny or fierce," remarked Rosenberg.

Finally, Erin Moriarty (True Detective, Red Widow) joins as Hope, a girl who becomes a client of Jessica's detective agency. "In Erin I immediately recognized an incredibly talented, mature and complex actress, who brings myriad levels to every scene," explained Rosenberg. "She has an incredible career in front of her and I'm delighted we have someone of her calibre for this important role."

Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television added, “All three of these enormously talented actors bring even more layers of depth and nuance to Jessica’s world. Together they help flesh out what is already a phenomenal cast in a series we believe will be truly remarkable.”

Krysten Ritter plays the eponymous Jessica, a former superhero who, following a tragedy, has hung up her cape and opened a New York detective agency, Alias Investigations, specialising in cases involving people with special powers. She's assisted by Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and her best friend Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor).

David Tennant will play Kilgrave, also known as the Purple Man, a supervillain with a history with Jessica. His reappearance in her life has the potential to send shockwaves through her world.

A.K.A Jessica Jones has recently gone into production in New York. It is the second of four planned adaptations by Marvel for Netfix and will be preceded in April by Daredevil
