Top Ten DVD Success For Broadchurch

Broadchurch has gone straight into the Top 10 in the Official DVD Chart, compiled by the Official Charts Company. The three-disc box set went into the chart at number 9 following its release a week ago.

Last week distributors Acorn DVD predicted that the title would sell 18,000 copies in its first week and placed it among the top five of the week's releases. In fact, it was the third most popular new release, behind Django Unchained and the fifth series of True Blood.

Broadchurch, created by Chris Chibnall and starring David Tennant, Olivia Colman and Arthur Darvill was the most discussed drama series of the spring, following the effects of the murder of a child on a small seaside community. Millions across the nation tried to work out the identity of Danny Latimer's killer, but as series star Joe Sims (Nige Carter) told us a few weeks ago, even knowing the big reveal does not spoil the enjoyment of the drama. He said:

"I was watching it knowing exactly what had happened, but there’s the minutiae, the attention to detail, the fact that all the clues are there. When you’re rewatching and knowing who the perpetrator was, that doesn't detract from the drama in any way, shape or form…I want to urge everybody to buy the DVD because it’s something, in terms of televisual drama, that you can keep for posterity and every now and again dust off the bookshelf and have another little watch, and then you’re bound to find something that you didn't see first time round."
