The Radio Times episode guide for the new BBC Radio 4 series based on tales by Sir Walter Scott confirms that David Tennant's role in the drama will be as narrator. The Great Scott: The Fair Maid Of Perth is the first of three dramatisations in which David takes on the role of the Scottish writer and poet

The drama was adapted by Scott Cherry from the novel by Sir Walter Scott and stars Morven Christie and Hugh Ross with Clive Russell and Kenneth Cranham. It was produced by Pacificus for BBC Radio 4 by Clive Brill.

Catherine, the beautiful daughter of a glover in lawless 14th-century Scotland, is romantically pursued by a warmongering blacksmith, a poetising prince, a clansman and a bumbling bonnet-maker. She faces the dilemma of whether to marry the man she loves, or obey her father by betrothing herself to Christ.
